NORA Hair Salon founder Hidekazu Ando (Ando-san) delivers sharp cuts and flawless coloring techniques that are always ahead of global trends
Ever heard of a Kami-Charisma-recognized hair salon? Think Michelin-star standards, but for hairstyling. That’s exactly what NORA Hair Salon brings to the table: a slice of Tokyo in the heart of Manila.
With roots in Japan and a cult following back home, NORA is one of the few salons repeatedly featured in the prestigious Kami Charisma Japanese Hair Salon Guide, the country’s ultimate seal of excellence in hairstyling.
Founded in Aoyama, Tokyo, in 2007, NORA has grown to 12 locations in Japan and three in the Philippines, with more on the way. Inspired by A Doll’s House heroine Nora, who redefined the modern woman, the salon aims to empower women through beauty and transformation.
So, what makes a visit to NORA different?
For starters, it’s not just about the haircut. Japanese precision is at the core of everything. From detailed consultations to custom styles based on face shape and personal goals, the staff, led by founder Hidekazu Ando (fondly called Ando-san), delivers sharp cuts and flawless coloring techniques that are always a step ahead of global trends.

Want that soft, dreamy “milktea” color before everyone else has it? NORA’s already been doing it. The salon also specializes in 3D layering and highlights—think natural movement and effortless depth—minus the damage, thanks to premium Japanese products like Milbon.
Even shampooing is an art form. NORA elevates the humble rinse with full-blown massage treatments designed to stimulate blood flow and even promote lifting effects. “We strive to make shampooing a relaxing and special moment,” says Ando-san.
A Kyoto native with over 30 years of experience, Ando-san is not just a master stylist—he’s a licensed instructor, having trained in Japan, the U.S., and China. In the Philippines, he leads a team of equally skilled professionals, all committed to the Japanese standard of service: respectful, detail-oriented, and always aiming to exceed expectations.
NORA’s growth in the Philippines is backed by Techno Holdings Corporation, led by businessman William “Bill” Stelton, who also heads The Bistro Group. Two more NORA branches are set to open this year, including a hairstylist training academy called NORA Lab launching at Shangri-La Plaza.
Current branches include Legaspi Street in Makati, SM North EDSA Annex, and Robinsons Place Manila.
